A Catholic priest in Minnesota was visibly overcome during the consecration at a school Mass on the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. While the moment was initially described online as a possible visible Eucharistic miracle, the local pastor later clarified that Father Brent Bowman received a profound, personal grace from the Lord.
The powerful video shows Father Bowman struggling with emotion as he celebrates Mass at St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church in Hopkins, Minnesota. It quickly spread across social media, where some viewers called it a “possible eucharistic miracle in the US.”
But what happened, the pastor explained, points to an even deeper truth: Jesus is truly present at every Mass.
A moving moment at Mass
The moment occurred Sept. 14 during a school Mass. Father Bowman, who serves as chaplain for the local Chesterton Academy, appears deeply moved during the Eucharistic Prayer, particularly at the consecration of the chalice.
A social-media post initially reported that the priest had seen the consecrated wine visibly change into blood. Catholic author Patrick O’Hearn, who shared the original video on his Instagram account, later issued a correction after speaking with people connected to the parish.
