The many miracles of Our Blessed Lord opening the eyes of the blind were symbols of His opening the unbelief of hearts to the truth of His revelation. Saint Paul himself was spiritually blind, and tells the story of how his eyes were opened spiritually on the road to Damascus. At the very moment he received the full impact of the meaning of human life, Christ spoke to him saying: “Thou shalt open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive faith in Me, the remission of their sins and inheritance among the saints.”

Our knowledge of Truth will be cumulative, if we really wish it to grow: “Ask and the gift will come; seek and you shall find; knock and the door shall be opened to you.”
