Simbang Gabi Mass with Cardinal McElroy in San Diego

The San Diego diocese’s annual Filipino holiday tradition of Simbang Gabi will begin with a special vigil Mass on Dec. 14 at 6:30pm at St. Michael Church in San Diego. Everyone is welcome!
Simbang Gabi (Filipino for “Night Masses”) is a novena of Masses to honor the Blessed Virgin Mary as she awaits the birth of the Son.
On Dec. 14, the evening will begin with a procession of “parols,” colorful star-shaped lanterns that remind the faithful that Jesus is the “Light of the World.” Afterward, there will be a rosary followed by Mass by candlelight, to be celebrated by Cardinal McElroy.
Beginning Dec. 15, Simbang Gabi services will be held in parishes across the diocese at varying times.
