Starting a day with a cup of coffee has been a long-standing routine. I make that first cup before I head to my chapel for my daily Holy Hour. I have also come to enjoy making coffee with an AeroPress. There are now many recipes to make coffee in this fashion, even an international competition!
In this light, I would like to share my AeroPress recipe with you:
Before making the coffee, thank the Lord for his goodness in giving us coffee. Contemplate his benevolence.
Prepare the AeroPress with about 15 grams of medium-ground coffee and set it on the coffee mug.
Heat the water to 190 degrees Fahrenheit. While the water is heating, continue to ponder the goodness of God and the blessing of another day to serve him. Make an offering of the whole day to God.
Pour the heated water into the AeroPress to your preferred level, stir, and affix the plunger.
Pray three Hail Marys, asking the Blessed Virgin’s intercession to draw you closer to the Lord today.
Depress the plunger.
