Mahatma Gandhi led a famous “Salt March” in 1930 to protest British rule. Now Paola Monaco, Secretary General of the Vatican’s Association of Lay Employees, says her group will lead a similar non-violent protest for better pay and working conditions for those working for the Holy See. “The voice of workers can no longer be ignored,” Monaco said. “It’s anachronistic to make decisions unilaterally and to impose them from on high.”
