If you are going through a difficult time, you are not alone. Many saints also faced anguish, anxiety, and deep interior struggles. They can intercede for you in your times of difficulty.
The Church reminds us that the saints were not perfect people, nor were they untouched by human suffering. Many of them endured profound interior battles, but they found in God the strength to persevere. Because of this, they can be powerful intercessors for those experiencing mental health struggles today.
Here are some saints who can accompany you with their intercession in times of suffering:1) Saint Dymphna
Saint Dymphna is the patron saint of those suffering from mental illness, anxiety, and depression. According to tradition, she was a seventh-century Irish woman who fled her homeland to protect her faith and purity and was eventually martyred in what is now Belgium. Over time, many faithful attributed miracles and healings to her intercession, especially those related to mental illness and emotional suffering.
