Fr. James Bankston
is speaking at St. Therese of Carmel in San Diego, Oct. 18!
“An Introduction to the Eastern Catholic Churches in general and the Byzantine Catholic Church in Particular“
Responding to the call of Pope St. John Paul the Great in his encyclical Orientale Lumen (Light of the East), Fr. Bankston will speak about the Eastern Catholic Churches highlighting the common faith expressed in a different (though complementary) fashion. The Eastern Catholic Churches share the same faith as the Western (Roman) Catholic Church but have their own Liturgical, Spiritual, Canonical and Disciplinary patrimony that can sometime seem at odds with the understanding of the Western church. Fr. James will explore various aspects of Liturgy, Architecture, and Spirituality to answer the question often asked of him – “But… are you really Catholic?
