“The Annunciation of the Birth of Jesus from the Perspective of Mar Narsai”, Speaker in San Diego
July 19 @ 18:30 - 20:00 PDT
Fr. Simon Esshaki is speaking at St. Therese of Carmel in San Diego, July 19!
“The Annunciation of the Birth of Jesus from the Perspective of Mar Narsai”
Fr. Simon Esshaki is a Chaldean Catholic priest ordained in 2015 out of the Seminary of Mar Abba the Great, the only Chaldean seminary outside of Iraq. He currently serves as pastor of St. Michael Chaldean Church in El Cajon, CA, and does a lot of ministry on social media as well. His faith has been formed by the rich patristic tradition of the Chaldean Church, which is one of the 23 Eastern Rites of the Catholic Church. In his presentation, he will help us better understand the story of the Annunciation of the Birth of Jesus from the perspective of Mar Narsai, one of the great fathers of the Chaldean patristic tradition, who presents the story as a longer dialogue between Mary and the Angel Gabriel with the intention of portraying Mary as a contemplative who is ready to accept God’s plan for her life.
