According to St. Irenaeus in the second century, St. John had the Gnostic heretic, Cerinthus, in mind when he penned his Gospel.  Tim will help us understand why St. John emphasized, more than any of the other evangelists, both the Divinity of Christ and the true presence of Christ in the Eucharist. He did so precisely because these were two of the central points Cerinthus and his Gnostic followers denied.
