The Healthcare Professionals Mass acknowledges our brothers and sisters who serve in the healthcare profession including physicians, nurses, chaplains, physical therapists, mental health caregivers, chiropractors, receptionists, dietary staff, lab workers and administrators.
As we recognize their courage to protect human life and dignity from conception to natural death, we express our deep gratitude for extending the healing ministry of Jesus Christ in their workplaces.
The Healthcare Professional Mass is known by some as the “White Mass” because of the white lab coats traditionally worn by the healthcare profession. Since the late 1800s, this Mass is often celebrated in October when the feast of St. Luke the Evangelist, also known as the patron saint of physicians, takes place.
