With the highly anticipated NCAA Division I tourney commencing this week, 64 aspiring programs ponder the possibility of cutting down the net and raising the tournament championship trophy at the Alamodome in San Antonio on April 7. One Catholic university, St. Francis of Loretto, PA was eliminated in a play-in game, but Mount St. Mary’s of Maryland won their game against American U., as did Xavier of Ohio against Texas. But #5 St. John’s University represents the most realistic hope for a Catholic school to reach the Final Four.
