Here’s why it may be the hardest prayer to say and how you can mean it when you say it!1. Combat the Root of All Sin

Pride is often considered the root of all sin, and the Litany of Humility is a powerful tool to combat it.

“Humility is the virtue that is the antidote to pride, and pride is the initial sin that made the angels fall,” Scheel explains.

By praying this litany, he says we actively work against our inclination toward pride, letting us instead grow closer to God.

2. Emulate Jesus’ Perfect Humility

Jesus is the ultimate example of humility.

“Christ emptied himself and took on flesh for our sake and for our salvation,” Sheel highlights. “There’s never been a more humble act than as the Creator to take on the form of a baby completely, helpless against the elements.”

By praying the Litany of Humility, we try to live as Jesus did, embracing humility in all things.
