“The Impact of Trauma on Faith”, Speaker in San Diego
March 20 @ 19:00 - 20:00 PDT
Please join us for a presentation on “The Impact for Catholics of Trauma on Faith Belief and Practice” at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel (OLMC) in San Diego. This captivating lecture will be presented on March 20 at 7pm in the OLMC parish hall.
The speaker, Fr. William Watson SJ, is the founder and president of the Sacred Story Institute (SSI). In a first of its kind study, SSI has conducted a national survey of the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences on Roman Catholics in the US and their faith belief and practice. Fr. Watson will share the results and implication of the survey.
Founded in 2012, SSI is at the forefront of researching and developing dynamic, entirely new applications of classic Ignatian spirituality. Fr. William Watson’s program development is informed by a life of study, spiritual direction, and Ignatian program development and research in
neuroscience, medicine, psychology, and trauma studies.
Fr. Watson was the director of campus ministry at Georgetown University when the OLMC pastor, Fr. Anthony Saroki, was studying there as an undergraduate. He was instrumental in Fr. Anthony’s later discernment of a priestly vocation.
