We are having a walk to raise funds to help children in the Mexican state of Oaxaca stay in school. 100% of funds raised are used to assist the families of farm workers who worked in the San Diego area between Rancho Peñasquitos and Del Mar. Our volunteers go to Oaxaca (at their own expense), purchase and deliver school supplies for 1,600 children in five villages. They also provide scholarships to assist young people from these villages to complete their high school and college education. We are asking for assistance in helping the families of men who provided the stoop labor necessary to grow our fruits and vegetables in Carmel Valley. For more than 25 years we were connected to these men through the migrant ministry at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church. We maintain that connection serving them and their families in their villages in Mexico.
