SAN DIEGO — The Ignatian Volunteer Corps of San Diego will match skilled and committed retirees to meaningful volunteer roles with four Center City partner schools, beginning with the 2024-2025 school year.

Through this initiative, IVC Corps members will help strengthen Catholic education in low-socioeconomic parish neighborhoods and will provide K-8 students with joyful and supportive adult role models. Volunteers in this initiative will receive training and ongoing support and will also become part of the faith community of fellow IVC members that meets each month.

Available service opportunities include: tutor, classroom aide and assistant coach at Our Lady’s School; instructional aide at St. Katharine Drexel Academy; teacher’s aide, tutor, mentor, arts/music instructor, and assistant coach at St. Patrick School, North Park; and instructional aide, counselor, mentor, and arts/music instructor at St. Rita’s School.

IVC members will volunteer for four, eight or 16 hours per week between August 2024 and June 2025.

The Ignatian Volunteer Corps provides mature men and women the opportunity to serve the needs of people who are poor, to work for a more just society, and to grow deeper in Christian faith by reflecting and praying in the Ignatian tradition.
