Cardinal Timothy Dolan says Vice President Kamala Harris’ decision to skip the Al Smith dinner, the nation’s most prominent Catholic charity event, wasn’t a wise political move, adding that New York Democrats Sen. Chuck Schumer and Gov. Kathy Hochul told him “there still might be a chance because this may have just been her handlers saying, ‘No, no we can’t.’” The Catholic League’s Bill Donohue said: “It seems obvious that her handlers, who are ever so cautious about her public comments, are afraid she might stumble, and therefore come to regret going.”
